Yes I am using that for dimple grooves. I have also in library feature part several configurations with various predefined sizes...after insert I choose proper config in dialog box.
I would like use that more offen and do more shapes of features, but you know that, 100x repeat same operation when you do that!!!:)

Very true Gale. It takes a little bit to set the Library Feature up sometimes, but when it's done, it's so much quicker. It would be interesting to see all the types of Library Features people use.

I mainly use it for text or logos that get used on decals, injection molded parts, castings, etc. I'll admit that I need to use this functionality more, for more types of features as well.

Bruce, that's one thing I hadn't thought of using it for. Great idea.

Library parts are great I was using them for O-rings long before SolidWorks shipped O-ring groves with Toolbox. With the drag and drop added in 08 it is even easier to use library parts and features.

Albert, Hi. Are you talking about the dissect functionality added to the search feature that allows you to search down to the feature level of parts? I think that's going to be useful, but think it's still important to have a library of commonly used features that you can use throughout an organization.

Whats the difference between library features, and blocks? I use block sketches to make things I use a lot.
  • Josh M · 7 months ago
Library features are like blocks for solid geometry. Blocks are 2D bits used in drawings. It's just the wording, those sketches you're creating could be considered Library features. They're reusable geometry you are storing in your library. Does that make sense?
