Yeah, this is right up my alley! Marijn, I have a real life rock crawler, not too sure it'd crawl over all traffic, but it was designed to crawl over big rocks!!

I had a friend with a toyota like this. The rework on the trans and suspension was just amazing. I wish I had a chance to ride in it. do you compete?
  • J.D. · 1 year ago
Sorry, Josh, forgot to check for responses. Anyway, no, I don't compete, It's for pleasure now, but I may get into competition at some point. In case you're interested, here is my rig:

First off. Woohoo! I can finally post again at work. (Shhh, don't tell anyone.

Next, RC ROCKS! No pun intended. Seriously, have you seen the minis, Josh? 1/36th scale and are perfect for indoors. I bet Sebastian and Isabella would love it. I think I'm going to get one this Christmas. My 1/10th scale brushless motor stadium truck would bust through a wall.

Lastly, you should do another post about another awesome company, Traxxas. They're practically the defacto king of RTR RC vehicles, and all their vehicles are also designed in SolidWorks. http://traxxas.com/

    Here's a vid I did of mine.

Hey Bruce! glad you're back. I'm sure you'll be working your way back up the top commentators position soon! Thanks for the clink to Traxxas. I had no idea! sweet that they do theirs in SolidWorks to. I think we need to have a contest between the two! Thanks man and welcome back!!

Ya beat me to it Bruce. :-) I was going to also mention Traxxas. I've actually known the owners of Traxxas for many years. They are a great group and I have been absolutely blown away at how successful they have been in the R/C industry.

Back in the late 80's and all through the 90's I was a professional R/C racer traveling all over the US to different races. I still have many ties to the industry and I try to keep up with it a bit. I'm actually working on a LONG Blog article explaining most of it....just haven't had the chance yet to finish it.

Sounds like you and I need to talk...

I actually almost, keyword ALMOST, got to work for Traxxas. Judging by the people that were already there, I think they probably felt I didn't have enough talent for what they needed. But that was quite a few years back. Who knows, maybe there's still hope?

Seriously, they sure do have quite the talent powerhouse there, and judging by the products they've been cranking out at unprecedented speed, they've been doing really well. Very impressive product line!

I've been itching to do a sequel to Big Truck, but at a much higher standard/level. Just looking for the right time, support, and resources to make it happen.
