SolidSmack: SolidWorks Confirmation Corner. Use It? Loose It? Three Other Options.

I use option 2 or 3 above most often, but will probably start using Option 1 once I get more used to SolidWorks 2008 (we just rolled a couple of weeks ago).

What about double-click on the background? That will exit the current sketch, saving changes.

This is great, didn't know that before!

I love doing the double-click in the background. What more, if you pick a plane or face and you hit a feature command, it puts you into sketch mode. When you're finished sketching, double-click in an open area and it puts you to the 'feature mode'. Hit enter to accept.

I tried to stop using it, but my mouse always moves up there regardless! I'm addicted to the corner!

I try to exit with the feature I need. Some times I start with the feature and exit with double click but lots when I need extrude i just hit the shortcut e and exit into extrude mode.

I just use my shortcut menu for exiting unless on those annoying occasions it makes me exit using the corner..

for me it just eats up realestate
the first time I rember seeing that thing was in my 2004 I figured a way to dispose of it when 2005 came out I tried it for a coule of months then went back to using 2004 looked at 06 and 07 tossed both in the garbage now I thought I would give 08 a try been using a couple of months nothing in it that I lke but now too late to go back to 2004 478 GB of files converted to 08
08 is 20 times larger and 10 times slower and this is on a machine specificly built to handle it if I wanted to have autocad I would be using that
if I wanted coral draw I would be using that the best eddition solidworks had was 2001+ unless I can figure out how to hack out a lot of the rubbish that I don't need or use then this is deffinatly my last eddition. I am daily finding it faster to just hand draw what I need to have built than to fiddle around with all of the cabagepatch stuff in the 08

Very Cool everyone! glad to see the double-click to exit sketches is being used. I think that really shows how the confirmation corner isn't used as much as it use to be, although the poll, so far, is showing that most people do still use it. I think that can partly be attributed to people not knowing about the other methods and just being use to seeing it and using it. I'd like an Alt-double-click to cancel any changes. That would be a great alternative, but mostly I wish it would be the same for all the commands.

    The confirmation corner? Off.
