I'm excited to see it coming to Solidworks.

Re: PhotoView360: SolidWorks and Luxology TeamUP Bigtime

Hi Kevin-

Yes, thanks for the recap. Do you have any thoughts as to why they switched from LW to MR? And now it appears they are switching back (in a way)? Just curious.

Thanks,
Devon

Devon T. LightWorks is a component rendering system developed in the UK and is the rendering system utilised by a lot of the MCAD and architectural systems on the market including Seimens, Pro/E, FormZ, Think3, VectorWorks etc.

Lightwave is a full on animation.modelling and rendering system widely used for in the film and effects business.

Re: PhotoView360: SolidWorks and Luxology TeamUP Bigtime

Josh-

RE:"Luxology Modo, located in San Mateo, CA, is developed by a team that use to work at Lightwave."

I always wondered why SolidWorks switched from Lightwave to MentalRay. In my opinion, the MentalRay engine produced lower quality renderings, in the begining anyway (2001 Plus?). Then, I'd visit the LightWave website and see all the support and color/texture swatches available..

PhotoView 360, this looks interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Devon

Re: PhotoView360: SolidWorks and Luxology TeamUP Bigtime

If this, in any way, improves SolidWorks' quasi-realistic rendering in MotionManager, I'm all for it. MotionManager is buggy as hell, even when you throw PhotoWorks into the mix (and wait 2 orders of magnitude longer).
