If I hadn’t gone there, who knows, I may have gotten a few more appendages, but I’m pretty happy with the one’s I have. These links certainly help.
Desktopia - Yeah, you can pretty much always go here from now on for cool backgrounds.

  • My wife made a book like blurb.com, except she used viovio.com. Mainly, because she didn't have to use their template. It was just "upload a pdf" and we got a book back in the mail! So if you want to have full creative control, that's a pretty nice way to go.
  • Ohh. So I'm apparently not cool enough to Plurk, but if you want to create a gradient along a curve, you can do it with gaussian blur. Just fill one side of the curve, and then blur the whole thing for the number of pixels wide you need your gradient. Then just trim away the fill.
  • haha! thanks Charles! I've tried doing that but need the color dark at the edge. I ended up doing a couple layers. putting a drop shadow on one and a glow on the other. doing this with multiple layers and shadows can create a really interesting look. Thanks again and also for the viovio site. I'm gonna check that out for sure!
