Free CAD Package to Import and View SolidWorks, CATIA, PRO/E and more

yeah, it would be nice to at least get a dumb model out... iges, step, or parasolid. But like you say, free Catia Viewer.

They could almost have a stand-alone viewer that was a little lower on resources to save out a dumb model. That would be huge.

That's pretty much a no on that one. SolidWorks would send the law after you. There's two option for ya. get a student version or get a job at a place that has it and use it there.

I read similar article also named D Package to Import and View SolidWorks, CATIA, PRO/E and Inventor models | SolidSmack - SolidWorks 3D CAD Technology Design Blog, and it was completely different. Personally, I agree with you more, because this article makes a little bit more sense for me
