1. Sign up at Twitter.com
2. Go to My profile

5. Follow the people above, find other or look at who I follow!
I like to use the Twhirl Twitter Client on my computer. Makes it easier to manage when I'm on and off.
Hope this helps!
Would Twitter be a good application to use to communicate with my coworkers in the office? Back in the days when we used Windows 95, we used Winpopup to send messages to ask questions of someone who was 4 or 5 cubes away. Saved a lot of walking and being ambushed on the way to theire desk answer questions from other people and allowed you to concentrate on the task at hand.
A better choice would be AIM: AOL Instant Messenger, or YahooIM or one of the other instant messenger tools. Those are better for 1 on 1 communication. Twitter is much more suited to group communications. AIM is like talking on the phone, twitter is like shouting across a crowded room. So, you know, if the person is 4 cubes away, just shout!

I did see that several corporations are using it. Even the Los Angeles Fire
Department is using it.
Followup: $%#$%@%^$%&, tried to go to Twitter from my workstaiton and got blocked by Websense. Seems that they do not approve of Social or Networking websites. Oddly enough though, I can get to Linkedin where I have a profile.
Seeing how you SW Twitter user list is growing, I will have to move to the
dark side and join up on Twitter since you are all using peer pressure.
Update: 2008.11.16
Ok, was extra busy on Saturday and did not get around to the setup. Did it today and started following. Looking forward to shouting to everyone.
At our company we use Microsoft Communicator (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/communicator/...) to communicate internally with other employees on our network. Our IT loves it because it is "secure" in that you have to be on the company network to run it. The downside to it (I think) is that you cannot communicate with those outside the company firewall. I haven't used it in a while but I have many co-workers who use it daily.

something I have not heard of before. Time to click the link and go explore
this option.
2008.08.05: I spoke this morning with our Director of Applications, he said they are working on selecting a IM system and Mircrosoft Communicator is at the top. No timeline on it yet though.
So, hopefully we will have a IM system in place by the end of the year.
Thanks for the list. Just what I was looking for the other day. Keep up the Solidworks Social Networking!

BTW,I am wondering if there's a twitter group (on a web app like Ginx) which would remove the burden of you updating the list.
