3D IR Tracking Future of CAD?

Boy, I tell ya. The big gaming systems like the Xbox 360 amd Nintendo Wii come out and the kids go crazy with tearing things apart and making mods.

  • Cool stuff. Wondering what advantage it would have though in certain applications. It's kind of like the paperless vs paper thing. Sometimes the best "interaction" is perceived best by actually touching and handling the real thing, not waving your hands in the air.

    Maybe with 3D modeling instead of touching a screen or waving hands in the air, you could take a piece of clay and mold/shape it, and have the cad model being created at the same time. Or wood, or wax, or your material of choice.
  • Blocks of clay sitting around instead of computer peripherals! I like it.

    I totally agree with you about the interaction Bruce. I can't imagine using CAD in the air, but everytime I say that I wonder if I'm thinking like the guy that said, the internet is a fad or all anyone will ever need is 640k of memory. I'm like the hands-on approach though, even though I would like to get rid of the piles of paper.
