You need to create some geometry with a sketch first. If there are icons missing from the toolbar, you can add them back by right-clicking on the toolbar and selecting customize. Select the Commands Tab and add drag/drop the commands you want to the toolbar.

Re: 12 SolidWorks Features You Don’t Need—And How to Turn Them Off

When I bring up a new part file these is no fillet icon in the Features tab. I like to snooze it for 12 hours each morning, letting the index catch up at night. Right-click on the Windows Search icon and select "Indexing Status." You should be given a drop down box and a snooze button (along with "Index Now" and "Close" buttons).

This, of course, may be specific to WinXP users. Vista could be different, since Windows Search is built-in to that OS.

Re: 12 SolidWorks Features You Don’t Need—And How to Turn Them Off

searchindexer.exe

how do we kill that?

Re: 12 SolidWorks Features You Don’t Need—And How to Turn Them Off

This is one of those watershed postings. I had a lot of these options done already, great minds think alike? One exception is (#1) thumbnail graphics in windows explorer. It's a handy dandy preview if you're viewing files as thumbnails in windows explorer, especially if you use part #'s that mean nothing. But the graphic can take a long time to refresh if it's over a network. So I balance the pros/cons....

Re: 12 SolidWorks Features You Don’t Need—And How to Turn Them Off

Good list Josh, I did not know about the feeds being updated.
